Single process color: 48-hour to 1-week aftercare plan

If you left our chair feeling happy with the cut and finish, keep that same energy for your color. The biggest rule after a single process color is simple: wait at least 48 hours before a full shampoo. That window gives your color time to settle so you keep the shine and even tone we just put in, especially with Plantation heat and Florida humidity working against you.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: lock in tone before life gets busy
Right after an all-over, single-step color application, we generally want you to keep things calm. No full shampoo for 48 hours. Try to avoid heavy sweating for the first day or two, too. If you are an active person or you have a long drive home down Broward Boulevard, sweat at the hairline can be the sneaky reason color looks dull faster.
48-hour quick rules: Skip shampoo, skip sweaty workouts, and keep your hair out of hot water and steam.
If you really have to rinse
Sometimes you just need to feel fresh. If that is you, do a cool-water rinse only and keep it quick. Skip shampoo and use a little conditioner on the ends if they feel dry. Hot water opens the cuticle more and tends to nudge color out sooner.
Hands off the hairline
Try not to scrub your scalp, aggressively brush, or pile your hair into a super-tight ponytail right away. Gentle is the name of the game for the first two days.
Days 3 to 7: sweat, sun, and water are the big three in Plantation
Once you hit that 48-hour mark, you can get back to normal, just a little smarter about it. Florida sun is strong, and it can fade color and warm up your tone faster than you want. Add summer humidity and workouts, and you get the perfect storm for early fading.
Swimming: give it 72 hours
We recommend waiting at least 72 hours before pool or ocean. Chlorine and salt are both rough on fresh color. If you cannot avoid the water after that window, rinse your hair with clean water first (think of it like filling the sponge), then rinse again right after you get out.
Heat styling: take a light week
Your color will stay shinier if you go easy on the flat iron and curling iron for the first week. If you do use heat, keep the temperature moderate and use a heat protectant every time. This is one of the easiest ways to keep that smooth, glossy finish a little longer.
Sun protection is real after color
UV protection is not just for skin. A UV spray for hair or even a hat on bright days can help keep your shade looking the way you meant it to look. If you came to us for a natural-looking tone, protecting it is what keeps it from turning brassy too soon.
Sulfate-free, color-safe washing: the 3 switches that matter
After your first real wash, your routine is what carries your results. We do a single-process application for vibrant, uniform color with deep pigment penetration and high shine. The goal at home is to avoid stripping that work out early.
- Switch #1: Use a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo. It is usually gentler and helps slow fading.
- Switch #2: Use a moisturizing conditioner made for color-treated hair. Focus it mid-length to ends.
- Switch #3: Wash with warm or cool water, not hot. Hot water is a fast track to dullness.
And please do not overdo dry shampoo in week one. A little is fine. Lots of buildup at the scalp can make hair feel flat and look less shiny, even when the color is perfect.
If your tone shifts early, a gloss or toner refresh is the quick fix
Sometimes your color is great in the salon and then Florida life happens. Sun, sweat, and one too-hot shower can make tone look warmer or less shiny than you want. That does not mean your color is ruined. A gloss or toner refresh can bring back tone and smooth the cuticle so your hair looks polished again.
We are in the Broward Boulevard and Plantation Walk area, so a quick in-and-out appointment is doable when you have limited evening time or you want your hair looking right before weekend plans.

That is our vibe. If something feels slightly off, we would rather you tell us quickly so we can get you back to the shade you had in mind.
Reach out fast if something feels off, we’re easy to get to in Plantation
A little scalp sensitivity can happen after color, and your hair may feel slightly drier until you get a couple good conditioning washes in. What we do not want is you sitting at home wondering if it is normal. If you notice uneven fading, unexpected warmth, or you had an event pop up and you want extra shine, let us know. We are known for being accommodating with appointments, even when the day is busy.
Local tip: If you are coming from Fort Lauderdale, Davie, Sunrise, Lauderhill, or Tamarac, plan to keep your hair out of direct sun right after your appointment. A simple clip or loose braid on the drive helps with sweat and friction at the neck.

Single-process color at Boulevard Salon: what we’re aiming for
A Single-Process Color is designed to create vibrant, uniform color in a single application. It is perfect for covering greys or giving your hair a solid, glossy new hue, and it is priced starting at $60. If you are considering a bigger lightening change, that is usually when we talk about double process color. Either way, the aftercare above is what keeps your tone looking intentional in the Florida sun.
