Microblading aftercare: first week steps, what to avoid
By Boulevard Salon | August 4, 2026
Quick note before we get into the day-by-day: people come to us because our measurements are precise and the hair-stroke work looks natural. Aftercare is what protects that work.
The single most important microblading aftercare rule for the first 7 to 10 days is simple: keep your brows clean and mostly dry. Clean them gently, don’t soak them, and don’t sweat heavily on them. That’s what helps your pigment settle the way it should.
We do microblading at Boulevard Salon in the Broward Boulevard commercial corridor, right by the Plantation Walk area. And because Plantation gets hot and humid (especially July through October), we’ll be extra honest about what to avoid so you don’t heal unevenly.
First 24 to 48 hours: protect the strokes you just paid for
Right after microblading, your skin is doing the early work of closing and calming down. That’s why the first day or two matters so much.
We generally recommend: cleanse your brow area gently twice daily with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser, then pat dry with a clean towel or gauze. If we told you to use a thin layer of ointment, keep it light. More product is not better.
Skip heavy workouts for now. A little walking is usually fine, but anything that has you dripping sweat can push moisture and salt into fresh strokes. In Plantation’s summer humidity, that “I’ll just do a quick class” can turn into more sweat than you think.
No pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or long hot showers aimed at your face. And keep your hands off your brows. Rubbing, scratching, and picking are the fastest ways to lose pigment or create patchy spots.
Days 2 to 7: microblading healing stages (yes, the scabbing and fading happen)
Days 2 through 7 are when most people start texting us with the same question: “Is this normal?” Usually, yes. Brows often look darker first, then they start to flake or lightly scab. Then they can look faded. That color bounce is part of the microblading healing stages.
“Nissrine does an amazing microblading! My eyebrows retained their shape and I know I can always go back for a touch up when it’s time!”

What to keep doing
- Gentle cleanse twice daily, then pat dry.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase and try not to mash your face into it.
- Keep hair products and skincare off the brow area.
What to avoid until fully healed
- No eyebrow makeup directly on the area.
- No exfoliants, acids, retinoids, or scrubs on or near the brows.
- No facials that include steam or strong products near the brow.
- No tanning and no unprotected sun on the brows.
A big Florida-specific heads up: if you’re in the Plantation Walk area a lot and you’re outdoors, sun and sweat sneak up fast. During hurricane season months (July through October), humid days can make “light errands” feel like a workout. Plan your brow care like that.
Products and habits that keep microblading crisp (without overdoing it)
Aftercare products don’t need to be fancy. They need to be consistent.
Stick with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and keep the routine short. If we instructed you to apply ointment, a rice-grain amount is usually plenty. Heavy layers can trap moisture and slow down how evenly you flake.
Keep it simple: clean hands, clean brows, light moisture only if we told you to. The goal is to protect those realistic hair strokes, not smother them.
And once your brows are healed, sun protection matters. Florida sun fades everything faster, including brow pigment, so sunscreen around the area (not during the open-healing phase) helps your result stay true longer.
Touch-up timeline (6 to 8 weeks) and when to reach out to us sooner
Microblading is a two-step process for most people. We plan on a 6 to 8 week touch-up to perfect the shape, reinforce any lighter areas, and make sure everything healed evenly. That’s also why people tell us their brows keep their shape long term and why they come back when it’s time.
Normal signs during healing
- Light flaking or microblading scabbing that looks like tiny dry skin.
- Color looking too dark early on, then lighter mid-week.
- Mild itchiness as it dries down.
Reach out right away if you notice
- Increasing pain (not just tenderness) or heat in the area.
- Pus, a bad smell, or swelling that gets worse.
- Redness that spreads beyond the brow area.
If something looks off, let us know. And if you think it’s an infection or allergic reaction, get medical care.
We make it easy to pop in and out at Boulevard Salon at Plantation Walk, especially if you’re commuting on I-595 or University Drive. Many of our microblading guests appreciate that we can often fit appointments in, including evenings and weekends.
